Dairy-Free...and Delicious!

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

* SPOKEN WORD *

Around 2008, I initiated a dairy-free way of life to improve the health of my sinuses and thus my ability to breathe. In addition, I was really interested in improving the complexion of my skin and learned omitting dairy could be very beneficial.

I think it's also important to evaluate the energy of a product or food group. Dairy based products from cows are very heavy energetically and physically. Thus, a natural weight loss is often experienced from those who choose to omit the dairy group. Professionally, I don't feel this omission leads to a deficiency in nutrients but rather a dramatic improvement in overall health and wellness!

15 years ago, there were not delicious products on the market to serve as dairy-free alternatives. Now, the climate has dramatically changed for the better! Before 2008, dairy was my favorite food group and I could not be happier to see a plethora of yummy alternatives to satisfy my tastebuds.

I'm often asked what dairy-free products I choose to consume. The following expression serves to satisfy this regular inquiry into my world. I plan to update this expression, as often as possible, when I make changes to my list of favorite dairy-free products.

Full disclosure: I don't receive financial support from companies for sharing product links. I'm simply showing you what products I love and choose to consume.

Below you will find locations for purchase but consider visiting the companies websites using the links provided. A "store locator" feature will help you to find the nearest retailer to your current location!

Dairy-Free Milk:

(1) Almond & Cashew | 10 Grams Protein per serving by Silk - I've only been able to locate this product at Kroger. This dairy-free milk makes it easier for vegans to meet protein needs for the day!

(2) Milked Walnuts | Unsweetened by Elmhurst - I purchase this at the Kindred Market in Athens, Ohio. I love this product for the omega-3 content that walnuts provide and the super simple ingredient list!

Dairy-Free Cheese:

Sliced: 365 Plant Based Cheese Alternative purchased at Whole Foods Market around the United States. The Cheddar & Smoked Gouda are my favorites!

Shredded: 365 Plant Based Cheese Alternative purchased at Whole Foods Market around the United States. The Cheddar-Style is my favorite but the Mozzarella-Style is essential when making Italian dishes...like my mom's delicious vegan and gluten-free lasagna!

Block: Follow Your Heart makes delicious block cheese. Their sliced cheese is nice, Pepper Jack being my favorite. I don't care for their shredded varieties. I purchase at the Kindred Market in Athens, Ohio, Raisin Rack in Westerville, Ohio, and Whole Foods Market around the United States.

Speciality: Follow Your Heart makes tasty speciality cheeses: Bleu, Feta, and Parmesan. I purchase at the Kindred Market in Athens, Ohio, Raisin Rack in Westerville, Ohio, and Whole Foods Market around the United States.

Travel | Lunch | Snack: I've been craving a cheese that's easy to pack and take on adventures! I was praying for a delicious string cheese, to be honest, but was ecstatic to find that Babybel has successfully entered the plant-based arena! Bravo! I purchase this product at Kroger in Athens, Ohio!

Cream:

(1) Violife Original purchased at Whole Foods Market around the United States.

(2) kite hill...I've only tried their Everything variety from Meijer around Ohio and Publix in the Southern US.

Dairy-Free Sour Cream: kite hill purchased from Meijer around Ohio and Publix in the Southern US.

Dairy-Free Whipped Cream: Coco Whip Original by SO DELICIOUS! Purchased at Kroger around Ohio, Kindred Market in Athens, Ohio, and Publix in the Southern US.

Dairy-Free Ice Cream:

Salted Caramel Cluster | Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert by SO DELICIOUS! Purchased at Kroger around Ohio and Publix in the Southern US.

Dairy-Free Yogurt: in order of preference!

(1) 365 Mango Almondmilk Non-Dairy Yogurt! Purchased at Whole Foods Market around the United States.

(1) Simple Truth Dairy-Free Almondmilk Yogurt Alternative, Mango! Purchased at Kroger around Ohio. *Honestly, the mango yogurt from both Whole Foods and Kroger variety taste the exact same to me and thus are both labeled at #1!

(2) kite hill Black Cherry Almond Milk Yogurt! Purchased at Whole Foods Market around the United States.

(2) Forager Organic Dairy-Free Cashewmilk Yogurt, Cherry or Peach! Purchased at Raisin Rack in Westerville, Ohio, and the Kindred Market in Athens, Ohio! *I slightly prefer the kite hill Black Cherry variety but do LOVE that Forager is Organic and thus both brands are rated at #2!

(3) Silk Almondmilk Peach, not pictured below. Purchased at Kroger around Ohio and Publix in the Southern US. This brand tends to be my last resort for a dairy-free yogurt providing a good amount of protein per serving.

(4) SO DELICIOUS, which I don't typically purchase due to the extremely low protein content. It does tastes nice and I will purchase if I have no other higher protein options. The key lime and peach are my favorite flavors by this company.

Dairy-Free Coffee Creamer:

Honestly, I accidentally gave up coffee in the summer of 2021 when completing an Ancient Indian Ayurvedic Cleanse. As a result, I don't have a favorite coffee creamer to recommended to you. For your consideration, I've included photos of products available at my local groceries. This is where I would start my taste testing If I ever added coffee back into my routine!

In summary, I'm so delighted that we have countless, delicious, dairy-free options to choose from! I do hope you share in my favorites! Should you try something new and dislike the product, return the container for a refund or store credit at your local grocery. All retailers have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and I feel it's important that we utilize this benefit!

Whatever the reason you're choosing to avoid dairy in the now, may the products listed above help you to maintain a dairy-free way of life for the long hall!
